happy halloween
Going to the Antique Show at the Portland Expo Center today with a family friend I haven't seen in a long time! Super excited and can't wait to see what kind of treasures I find! Hoping I make it home in time this evening to pass out candy to the cute trick-or-treaters. Happy Halloween!

rhythm of love
I've been hearing this catchy song Rhythm of Love by Plain White T's on the radio all weekend.
Love the video. It's making me wish for summer days on this extremely stormy night. Especially when the forcast looks like this...

it's not a damn bean bag...
it's a Lovesac!
In college, I worked at the local mall at American Eagle Outfitters. Nate would often come visit me during my lunch breaks and we would sometimes go lounge in one of the comfy "beanbags" at the Lovesac store. We always talked about how we would buy one someday.
Well... it just so happened that it was our first piece of furniture in our apartment right after our wedding. It had arrived about a week before our real furniture was supposed to arrive. So along with our mattress on the bedroom floor, tv stand and a makeshift table out of moving boxes, we had our "beanbag" in the corner of the family room. It worked out great in our little apartment as extra seating and a great place to lounge.
Once we moved into our house, I started to rethink the coolness factor of the Lovesac. I still loved it for comfort, but it is a big blob that takes up a lot of space and I also didn't want my new home to feel like a dorm room.
When we started the Family Room Design with Janell last spring we had decided to move the Lovesac into the corner of the room to open up the room a little more. It looks so much better in the corner!
One of the projects that we were planning to do for the family room was to make a cover for the Lovesac. We just have the traditional khaki cover that it came with because we never wanted to spend hundreds of dollars on a Lovesac brand cover. Janell had found a nice pattern that we had talked about possibly using, but I've been looking at it for the last few months and I'm still not totally in love with it. Which means I probably never will be.
Since we are no longer working with Janell, my mother-in-law offered to help me make a cover because I'm kind of lacking in the sewing skills. Today we went out to the Fabric Depot to see if I could find anything that I loved. I did find a couple of options that I really liked, but I think I am going to check out a couple more stores before I make my decision.

Awe... newlyweds :)

The colors in this one are perfect for the room! Greys, gold/yellow, light brown! Not sure how this would look on a big blob though? (please ignore that ugly fabric that was above this fabric in the corner)
Sorry, very blurry! Again, the colors were nice in this one, but thinking it might be too busy.
I love this fabric! but I think it would be too much black for the space as I'm trying to keep things light.
This is the fabric that I've been staring at for months. I like it, but I just don't love it.
Who knew it would be this tough to choose fabric? I'm open to any opinions or suggestions. Thanks!

If I had a little boy to dress up for Halloween, I would definitely be copying this idea.

retro flip clock
I've always wanted to get one of these.
Thanks to Leah and her lovely blog The Way We Are, she posted this fabulous flip-style clock screen saver found here. I love it! and the bonus is that it's free!

AYCJ '10
Our All You Can Jet travels ended last Wednesday in sunny California and we said good bye to JetBlue until next year. This last month has been a whirlwind that we will never forget! With two iPhones and two digital cameras we have almost 2000 photos from our 30 days of travel. Insanity! How does one even begin to organize that many photos?
(Our last day of our All You Can Jet pass at Laguna Beach)
