This last weekend I participated in my very first Portland to Coast Relay Walk with the fabulous team Shake Your Shakers. To be honest, I was a bit nervous for the event because I didn't know what to expect and I only knew a couple of the girls on the team. All nerves were thrown out the window, and had I blast on this 24+ journey to the coast.
My first leg of the relay was 6.8 miles in the heat of the day, with the first 2 miles being completely up hill. I still managed to average a 13.4 min/mile and I was proud of that. My second leg was 3.5 miles at 5:00am in Astoria, and it was such a BEAUTIFUL morning! My goal was to average under a 13 minute mile on that leg, and I DID IT! I averaged a 12.6 minute/mile! Even though it was a long day of being cramped up in a Chevy Tahoe with 7 other people on one of the hottest weekends of the year I would do it again in a heartbeat.
